AUDITION INFORMATION -
Event Chairs - Where - When - Repertoire - Registration - Audition Cost - Eligibility: “Any student, that has fulfilled the All-District Chorus requirements, is currently enrolled in a school choral performance organization recognized by the school division, and recommended by the school choral director, is eligible to audition.” as stated by the VCDA manual. I would like to encourage directors to ONLY recommend those students who are vocal ready for the rigor of All-VA and those who possess the high level of maturity required for such an event. Sight reading criteria: ● 8 measures long ● begins and ends on low DO ● measures 5 and 6 will be identical to measures 1 and 2 (the reason for this is two-fold: it makes better musical sense in retaining compositional integrity and symmetry, and it allows the student who makes mistakes in the first four bars to correct them in the second four bars) ● Keys: “E flat” for Soprano and Tenor; “C” for Alto and Bass 20 ● Tenors will be given the choice of reading in treble or bass clef. ● The compositional elements will be: Range—1 octave Skips—do, mi, sol Note values—whole, half, dotted quarter, quarter, eighth Rests—quarter |
